Figuring the Dimensions of Your Rag Rug

Posted by Erin Halvorsen on

Hello Rag Rug Enthusiasts,

I get asked on a regular basis how long should I make my initial chain when making an oval rag rug if I want it to be ?? inches by ?? inches when it is completed.  I do not use a formula however I see this formula posted occasionally and thought I would pass it on to you.

Subtract the width from the length. Example: 36 inches - 24 inches = 12 inches. So if you begin you initial chain of 12 inches your final oval rag rug will be 24" by 36".

I hope that helps

With a smile,

Erin
